Writing Change is open to emerging writers, aged 19-29, interested in a short-term (4 days, 3 nights) fully supported writing residency at Wintergreen Studios in May 2025. This residency provides a place for young writers to explore the intersections of climate, creativity, and self in a land-based community setting.

July Open Trails
So much life on the land in July! Hike to the lake and enjoy a well-deserved swim before heading back on one of Wintergreen’s more challenging trails (the South Trail).
August Open Trails
Still the peak of summer and the trails and lake are waiting for you at Wintergreen. Perhaps the first whiff of fall in the air or changing sounds in the late afternoon. And meadows filled with rudbekia!
September Open Trails
Most of the forest will still be green, but a few leaves will be turning as you make your way through Wintergreen’s network of over a dozen trails. Perfect hiking weather!

October Open Trails
The leaves will be turning now, displaying their golden and orange and burgundy hues. It should be sweater weather—too cool for a dip in the lake but perfect for making your way up the hills and down into the valleys of Wintergreen.

Catch the last glimpse of fall colour before the snow falls as you hike the trails in November. Who knows? You could be lucky and even catch the first flakes of winter!

Enjoy a self-guided hike on one of Wintergreen’s trails through mixed forests, wetlands, ponds, and granite outcrops.
Christmas Bird Count
