Risk Management
Wintergreen Studios aspires to operate in a way that protects the health, safety and security of guests, staff members and volunteers while pursuing the organization’s mission and safeguarding assets needed for programs and activities. The safety of personnel receiving or engaged in delivering programs offered by Wintergreen is a top priority and this emphasis is communicated throughout the organization. Wintergreen Studios involves appropriate personnel, whether board or staff, at all levels of the organization, in identifying risks and creating practical strategies in order to make certain that the approach to risk management considers diverse perspectives and that staff and volunteers understand their responsibility to protect the confidentiality of program participants, the safety and security of facilities, the integrity our reputation, the preservation and future growth of assets as well as the fulfillment of our mission.
The Risk Management Plan adopted by the Wintergreen Board details policies and procedures to identify and mitigate potential risks associated with all aspects of our operations. These include issues regarding anti-harassment, equity, and prevention and management of injury, and also, a clear delineation of responsibility of risk management, beginning with the Board, and including governance structures, board operations, human resource policies (including hiring practices, staff supervision, and performance appraisal policies), as well as standards of care for programs, emergency procedures, financial management, facility needs and risks (including equipment standards, internet security, prudent use of facilities and trails, and preventative maintenance), insurance, and volunteer risks and management strategies.
