Spring Equinox Labyrinth Walk

  • Wintergreen Studios 90 Wintergreen Lane South Frontenac, ON Canada (map)
Little darling, it’s been a long cold lonely winter, Little darling, it feels like years since it’s been here, Here comes the sun, here comes the sun, and I say, it’s alright.
— The Beatles, 'Here Comes The Sun' (1969)

Spring brings the balance between the dark and the light. Day and night become equal — poised and balanced — but about to tip over on the side of light. Just as the dawn is the time of new light, so the vernal equinox is the time of new life. The land emerges from the thaw of winter and quietly wakes up to the coming warmth of the summer months, full of new life and vital energy. The Spring Maiden, Ostara, brings leaves to the trees and flowers to the land.

We are privileged to watch these extraordinary transformations, as new life begins to grow before our eyes.  We are part of nature and the cycles of life, so the intentions stirred during winter’s introspection will move forward with ease and with energy. Everything is accelerated—the growth and the healing potential, too.

We are told all too often to turn the page, look ahead, plan for the future. In a time when moving forward is often the primary focus, the gift of a seasonal pause is ever so necessary. Let a walk through Wintergreen’s stone labyrinth be an opportunity, within the specific energy of the changing season, to take a pause to reflect.

As you prepare for this shift of seasons, take this opportunity to slow down and focus on the present. We encourage you fully experience SPRING EQUINOX by observing your natural surroundings and taking the time to listen to those things that speak without words. Whether this is your first experience walking a labyrinth or your hundredth, you’ll notice that some things will change and some stay the same. It’s all about working with nature, not against her, and learning to celebrate the seasonal transition.

This community event is open to all. Guests will be guided through walking meditation and come together after to discuss and deepen the process of reflection. Light snacks and beverages will be provided in an outdoor location.
